Your Soul’s Mate

Loving increases courage.  Courage increases bravery.  Bravery brings forth tenderness and tenderness encourages love.  The complete perfect circle. ~Catkins ©2012

We search, we hope, and we believe, that, out there somewhere, is a person that will fit us to the T!  They will bring to us immense joy and happiness, because they will be everything we ever desired.  Several years ago, the term soulmate made a huge resurgence and had many on the lookout for that person.  We felt our life was not complete, if we didn’t have this particular person in our life.  After all, life is about happiness and the perfect partner for us means happiness right?

So, to be your soulmate, does it really mean that the person must be that perfect fit for you?  What should they fit?  What kind of person is truly the mate to our soul?  Or better yet, what kind of person SHOULD be the mate to our soul?  When you are living on the level of spirit, you will undeniably be tuned in to your soul and the needs there of.  For me, what my soul needs is to grow and to flourish.  So, if it is to grow, I do not desire to have someone who will agree with me totally and not challenge me in any way, shape or form.  These to me are growth inhibitors.  I want someone who will divert my attention away from other insignificant matters, and to myself, so I can focus on areas in my life that need my attention.  In doing this, it should also be quite clear that a soulmate is a highly personal thing.  One person’s soulmate may not work in that capacity for another person, and they should not be confused with a motivator or mentor.  Anyway, back to what I believe a soul mate should really be.  A person who can help you challenge issues, which will lead to change and hence growth, is to me the ultimate soulmate.  Notice how I have said nothing about that person being just like me, catering to me or even loving me within an inch of my life.  Even more important is I have said nothing about them sparing my feelings by not telling me things that I need to or must hear for fear of offending me.  These elements are nice and of course we would be entirely blessed to have them, but they are not soulmate material.  A real soulmate gets in your face, shatter myths and challenge beliefs.  They remove barriers so you can see the other side.  They awaken in you, the desire to ask questions, to become alive with wanting.

At this point, I think you can see that a soulmate is not necessarily someone who is of the opposite sex to you.  You may also see, that the relationship may not necessarily be a romantic one either.  Although, I will admit that men and women have a natural tendency to form a soulmate partnership because they already start with a difference in views by being of the opposite sex.  Being a soulmate does not mean that they have to be the person you marry or live with in a romantic union.  It is also quite possible that you may have more than one soulmate.  Now here is a thought that you should also consider, a soulmate can come into your life, stay for a while and transition out of your life.  This is entirely possible when you realize and grasp the lessons they were trying to show you.  It is also very likely that they can transition to another role in your life ex. husband, wife, best friend etc.  You have to be willing to let this process happen as well.

If a soulmate is a true soulmate, the experience with them can be quite challenging.  They tackle areas you are afraid to go.  They make you face your deepest darkest fears.  You can be sure, that they will point out your road blocks or challenges, and for some, make you take a close look at any additions you may have.  For those driven by pride and ego, well, you can best believe that that will be shredded.  You see, the whole point is to achieve nothing less than total upheaval of your life to assure that you are able to get the most out of life and live on the plane of happiness.

A soulmate can usually appear when we are living desperate lives, or should I say this is when we become aware of them.  When our lives are begging for new direction, and we can’t seem to get ourselves going, we will no doubt be gifted with a soulmate.  We have to always remember, that the universe is here to provide us with what we need.  We all need balance, and that is what a soulmate can help us achieve, putting us on the road to finding our spiritual zen.  Most of all, a soulmate can help us gain more love of ourselves.  We should be totally honest with our selves and realize if we are not loving ourselves to the utmost, then a problem must exist.  A soulmate can help us decode the problem and through their work of making us face ourselves, give us the courage to unlock our ultimate love.  This is so critical, because we need ultimate love to gain perfect happiness.  This is what God wants for us.  This is our one true job.  We are a link in the chain of love.  We must love our self ultimately, so we can help another do the same and so on and so forth.  The more you love yourself, the more you will be willing to love others.  Loving increases courage.  Courage increases bravery.  Bravery brings forth tenderness and tenderness encourages love.  The complete perfect circle.

I am really impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it is rare to see a great blog like this one these days..

    • Hi Ahmed,

Thank you for your kind words. This is actually a free theme that I customized by adding my own stock photography. The theme is called Vostok. Again, thanks for those words, I am really appreciative.

Reminds me of a snippet from my favorite book of late: ““People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life.” Great read Caroll! Funny how reading this today resonates with me whereas a few years it would have sounded like mumbo jumbo! LOL!!!

    • Wow, I love to hear that. Just goes to show that we are all connected in ways we may not even realize and what we may think only happens to us doesn’t. Yea, no mumbo jumbo, We are all connected at a fundamental root and parts that we are comprised of, exists in others. Thanks for your comment Ayanna, I appreciate it.
