Soul Success

This morning, while I packed my groceries in the car, a woman of about 65 years of age walked up to me and said, “you look very pretty!”  I immediately thought, “live in this moment Caroll, and find what it needs to be complete.”  I looked at her closely and saw that she glowed and had a spring in her step and, yes she too was beautiful, so I uttered back, “you too are beautiful.”  She seemed utterly surprised and after thanking me she said, “I am on my way to the gym.”  I told her that she looked like she took care of herself, and to keep it up and have a great workout.  She smiled and with that same spring in her step walked away. I thought, even though it was drizzling rain outside, this moment was bright, shiny and beautiful.  At that point, I felt that I had lived that moment to its fullest.  I shared, she shared and good feelings were departed.  The funny thing was earlier, while in the store, I saw a woman bent over working.  I could not see her face, but something said to me go up to her and wish her a good morning and a great day.  Well, I did and she did not respond.  So I bent down and said it again.  She looked up and with a face as somber as a judge, she said “I can’t hear anything went I am bent down.  So, I said that is fine, I just wanted to make sure you heard me.  Still, with her perpetually somber face, she simply turned away and continued to work.  She did not acknowledge the good wishes with either a thank-you or a same to you.  At that moment I realized, I was having dé ja vu.  I had wished this same woman a pleasant day months ago, and she did almost the same thing.  She made some excuse turned around and continued to work.

Since I do not believe in coincidences, I had to think about this and try to figure out what was really going on.  I finally settled on a thought, that maybe every now and again, I cross this woman’s path solely to remind me how life is meant to be enjoyed.  Your work or job should fill you with gratitude, and that should absolutely bring you joy.  The universe also sends you reminders, that all around you exists the possibility to increase your happiness quotient. There are many little miracles and unexpected moments that bring a smile to your face and fill your heart with warmth happening all the time.  Even after seeing, that this woman was not amenable to my well wishes, I continued to feel happiness in my heart, and I am sure that is what the woman outside the store saw in me, that made her compliment me.   However, secretly I hoped that my well wishes to the woman in the store did resonate with her and improved her day somewhat.

I believe, what everyone in this world wants, whether they realize it or not is “soul success”.  Soul success to me, is a state where one is happy and joyous, because they know how to give and get love, are passionate in pursuing their passion, are grateful and thankful and are willing to help others get on their own path of soul success.  Mark Twain said, “to get the full value of joy you must have someone to divide it with.”  It is the same with soul success, unless you share it with others, you won’t really and truly feel its wonderful and soul stirring benefits.  Once you understand that your soul desires this and needs this you will have success and all that you desire will be yours.  I say this with confidence, because so many times the opportunities to achieve are right here, but we fail to recognize them mainly, because we are locked in our own negative thought process.  Love is waiting for us, but we keep occupying ourselves with the wrong people in hopes of turning them into the right people, ignoring the fact that we cannot change anyone.  Also, little miracles and niceties happen to us daily, but we fail to see them because we are focused on the big, huge changes that we believe we must have for us to be happy.  I have said this before, the more you can recognize things and events in your life to be thankful and grateful for the more abundance you will have AND the more you will attract.  LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE.  Recognizing small blessings trains the mind and the heart to be grateful. Gratitude for small blessings opens the way for bigger and bigger blessings.

So, I ask that you challenge yourself.  Make a decision that you will give a smile, and graciously receive a smile and when you do receive that smile, challenge yourself to extend that moment to see just how far it can go.  Doing this is one of the ultimate ways you can live in the moment!
